Overview

The chat agent generates a step-by-step plan before executing tool calls. The user can review and modify the plan before the agent proceeds. Dramatically improves complex multi-step task reliability.

How It Works

Agent receives a complex request
Instead of executing immediately, it generates a structured plan
Plan is rendered in the UI with numbered steps
User can edit, reorder, or approve
Agent executes step-by-step after approval

Port plan mode logic from src/agent_loop.py
Port tool policy changes from src/tool_policy.py
Port chat route changes from routes/chat_routes.py
Add plan mode UI rendering in the frontend
Port tests/test_plan_mode.py
